Escazu isn’t too far west of San Jose and is called the city of the good witches. The term is mainly derived form the blends of herbs and spices by the local Indian. Stories of magic love potions and other similar healing ceremonies to repel evil can still be found today. Translating from the indigenous word it also means “resting stone”. The Indians used to stop over and rest in Escazu to renew their wary bodies. The city of Escazu is comprised of many smaller settlements and communities and it isn’t uncommon to see settlements entirely made up by foreigners. It is conveniently located to the international airport with only 25 minutes drive.
Foreigners love the fact that buying real estate in Costa Rica offers them a way out of their present location with the promise of living in an exotic destination others pay a lot of money for to go on vacation. Whether you are looking to buy a condo or a house in a gated community in Escazu, or a farm a bit more isolated, you are going to be close to airport, shopping, activities and nightlife.
